The Lady Saints ended the regular season with a 63-55 victory on the road at Colby Community College on Sunday afternoon. Seward County finished in sole-possession of second-place in the Jayhawk West and earned the No. 2 seed in the Western Division entering the Region VI Tournament. SCCC enters post-season play after winning 10 of its last 11 games overall and recording a perfect 8-0 record at the Green House in conference play. Tegan Cunningham finished the regular season as the leading scorer in the Jayhawk West (21.4 ppg.) and sophomore Audra Binford has shot 47 percent (15-of-32) from 3-point range in the last five games. Seward County will be trying to improve on its 0-4 record against Jayhawk East opponents this season.

Seward Countyís last meeting with Allen County was in the Region VI First Round in 1999 when the Lady Saints defeated the Lady Red Devils, 76-48. SCCC also knocked off Allen County in the Region VI First Round in 1996 (93-53). Itís the 16th straight season that Seward County has hosted a Region VI First-Round Playoff game, where they have been a perfect 16-0 since 1993.

Allen County is led by first-year head coach Aaron Kallhoff, who is a familiar face to SCCC after spending the 2006-2007 season as an assistant menís basketball coach for the Saints. The Lady Red Devils finished the non-conference with a 7-5 overall record, but have since struggled with a 5-13 record in Jayhawk East competition. One clear absence for Allen County since the start of conference play has been sophomore post Lanicka Smith. After playing in the opening 12 games of the season, Smith was leading the NJCAA in rebounding (17.0 rpg.) and leading the team with 18.9 ppg. Smith was dismissed from the program once conference play started. Freshman forward Brittany Johnson is leading ACCC in scoring (15.4 ppg.) and rebounding (8.9 rpg.). In addition, Allen County doesnít have a player taller than 5-foot-9.
