Seward County Community College sophomore Tegan Cunningham has been named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Women’s Basketball Co-Player of the Week. Cunningham, a 6-foot-1 sophomore guard led the No. 12 Lady Saints in two victories last week over No. 9 Northeastern Colorado J.C. (63-55) and No. 6 Midland College (73-65), while earning her third career NJCAA Player of the Week award. The Oklahoma State University signee averaged 22 points and 10 rebounds per game, and shot 8-for-12 from the free throw line. Cunningham shared the honor with Danielle Adams, of Jefferson College, who averaged 25.3 points and 14.0 rebounds per game in three contests last week.

Cunningham collected 17 points with eight rebounds in 32 minutes of play against Northeastern Colorado J.C. on Friday afternoon. The following day, Cunningham scored 27 points with a season-high 12 rebounds in 38 minutes of action against Midland College.

The Pre-Season NJCAA First Team All-American is now averaging 20.9 points and 8.8 rebounds per game this season. Cunningham currently ranks 11th in the nation in scoring, third in field goals made (68), sixth in points scored (167) and 23rd in total rebounds (70). In addition, Cunningham has now posted 22 career double-doubles, including four this season.

The Seward County women’s basketball program has now had six NJCAA Player of the Week selections, dating back to the 2004-05 season.
