Seward County Community College head baseball coach Galen McSpadden has announced the Saintsí 2008 spring baseball schedule. Seward Countyís schedule is highlighted by 15 home dates, which includes 30 games that will be played at Brent Gould Field on the campus of SCCC. The Saints will open their season on Friday, Feb. 15 at home against Western Nebraska Community College for a doubleheader. SCCC will continue the opening weekend home-stand with a four-game series against Northeastern Colorado Junior College on Feb. 16-17. McSpadden, the 27th year head coach of the Saints, led Seward County to their 11th Jayhawk West Conference title under his direction last season with a 23-9 conference mark and 36-22 overall record.

The 56-game schedule will begin with 14 non-conference games. During the non-conference schedule, the Saints will play a four-game road series against Region IX contender Lamar Community College (Feb. 24-25). Later the Saints will play an intriguing non-conference four-game series on a neutral field against Region 14 powerhouse Texarkana College (Mar. 1-2), at Coppell H.S. in Dallas.

The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference will experiment with a new look for Jayhawk West play this season, with all match-ups going to a four-game series format. Each Western Division team will host four weekend seriesí and play on the road for four weekend seriesí. The conference slate will begin for the Saints on Mar. 8, when they travel to Colby Community College for a Saturday and Sunday four-game series.

Throughout the Jayhawk West schedule the Saints will continue playing mid-week non-conference opponents which include, Rose State College (Nov. 18-19, in Liberal), Luna Community College (Apr. 9, in Liberal) and Clarendon College (April 16, at Clarendon & April 23, in Liberal).

Seward County will host Jayhawk West seriesí against Cloud County C.C. (Mar. 15-16), Barton County C.C. (Mar. 29-30), Garden City C.C. (Apr. 12-13) and Pratt C.C. (Apr. 26-27). The Saintsí road conference trips will be at Colby C.C. (Mar. 8-9), Butler C.C. (Mar. 21-22), Dodge City C.C. (Apr. 5-6) and Hutchinson C.C. (Apr. 19-20).

The First Round Region VI Playoff Series is scheduled to be played on May 3-4, at the field of the higher seeded team. The winner of the best-two-of-three playoff series will advance to the NJCAA Division I Region VI Tournament on May 9-13, at Lawrence Dumont Stadium in Wichita, Kan.

In addition, the winner of the Region VI Tournament will finish their season at the NJCAA JUCO World Series, May 24-31, in Grand Junction, Colo., at Sam Suplizio Field.
