The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) has announced the Seward County Community College volleyball program has been awarded the GamePlan™/AVCA Team Academic Award for the 2006-2007 year. The Lady Saints were one-of-seven two-year colleges recognized that maintained at least a 3.30 accumulative team grade-point average during the school year. SCCC head coach Bert Luallen’s team produced a team GPA of 3.47 in the fall semester and a 3.40 GPA in the spring. Eight SCCC volleyball players earned honor roll status in both the spring and fall semesters, with one student-athlete posting a perfect 4.0 GPA in both the fall and spring.

In Luallen’s tenure as head coach of the Lady Saints, his program has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.32, since the fall of 2005. In two years, Luallen has coached 26 players who have been named to the Athletic Department’s Academic Honor Roll, accounting for 68% of all the volleyball student-athletes since 2005.
