Seward County Community College freshman second baseman Jena Rue has been named a Louisville Slugger/National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American. Rue, who has already been named a Third Team NJCAA All-American, was one of 15 players in the country who were named to the Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-American First Team. Rue receives her second All-American honor this week, which also marks the two All-American selections in the nine year history of Seward County softball. Rue was the lone Kansas representative on the first team along with players from colleges in Texas, Florida, Arizona, Oklahoma and Alabama.

Rue closes her freshman season at Seward County as the most decorated softball player in the history of the program. She was named Jayhawk West Conference Freshman of the Year, which was also a first for the SCCC softball program. Rue was a First Team All-Conference, All-Region 6 and Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-West Region selection. Earlier this week she was selected Third Team NJCAA All-American.

Rue led the Lady Saints with a .430 batting average (86-for-200) in 58 games played. She collected 54 runs scored, 24 doubles, five triples, six home runs, 66 RBI, 16 stolen bases and recorded 15 walks with only 20 strikeouts. Rue set single-season school records with 86 base hits and 24 doubles. In addition, she led the team with 24 multi-hit games and a 15 game hitting streak.
