Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference officials have announced the 2007 NJCAA Region VI Baseball Gold Glove Awards for the top defensive players. Seward County Community College freshman Christian Kowalchuk (pitcher) and sophomores Tanner Rindels (first base) and Toby Davis (third base) were named the top defensive players at their respective positions. The Gold Glove awards were voted on by KJCCC head coaches with one player at all nine positions earning the honor. Seward County dominated the defensive awards with no other college in the Region having more than one player named to the Gold Glove list.

The Gold Glove team includes: Reid Kreiser (catcher) Johnson County; Kowalchuk (pitcher) Seward County; Rindels (first base) Seward County; Jason Chatwood (second base) Colby; Davis (third base) Seward County; Zack Murry (shortstop) Neosho County; David Wilson (outfield) Barton County; Clint Bieberle (outfield) Hutchinson; and Michael Dabbs (outfield) Cowley College.

Kowalchuk was the Saints ace on the mound this season and has already received Jayhawk West Conference Freshman of the Year, First Team All-Conference and NJCAA Pitcher of the Week honors this season. Defensively, Kowalchuk committed only two errors with one putout and 12 assists. He threw only two wild pitches and had team-highs in strikeouts (71) and innings pitched (77.1).

Rindels was a unanimous First Team All-Conference selection and he became a standout player in the Jayhawk Conference. Rindels was not only consistent at the plate, but also in the field with a .976 fielding percentage. Rindels tallied a team-high 276 putouts with 12 assists and only seven errors. He was also a First Team All-Region VI selection and was also was named the National Junior College Player of the Week.

Davis had another strong campaign at third base for the Saints in his second season as the full-time starter at the hot-corner. Davis fielded .899 with 37 putouts and 106 assists in 54 games played this past season. He was a two-time First Team All-Conference pick and in the final week of the regular season Davis was named the NJCAA Player of the Week.
