The Seward County Community College womenís tennis team fell to 21st place at the 2007 NJCAA Womenís Tennis National Championship Tournament after dropping three singles matches and two doubles matches on Monday. Entering Monday, Seward County was in a four-way tie for 8th place, but didnít gain ground on their opponents and still have six points overall in tournament standings. The Lady Saints will now concentrate on two singles players who will play in the consolation bracket and both doubles pairs who will also finish competition in the consolation bracket.

Uthala Abdullah was the highest seeded player for SCCC still in contention for a national title. Abdullah was eliminated in the Round of 16 by Hanane Toumi (Cowley College) 1-6 and 1-6. Abdullah finishes her singles career at Seward County with back-to-back appearances in the Round of 16 at the national tournament.

Freshman, and No. 4 singles player, Erica Herrera, lost her second match in tournament play against Sara McPherson (Central Florida C.C.) 2-6 and 3-6, eliminating her from singles play.

Freshman Sanela Dejanovic, a No. 5 singles player, was also eliminated from tournament action with a 0-6 and 2-6 loss to Ashley Grayson (Collin County C.C.).

Both Seward County doubles teams suffered losses on Monday with Uthala Abdullah and her twin sister, Amina Abdullah, losing 1-6 and 2-6 in No. 1 doubles play against Broward C.C. Lady Saints No. 2 doubles pair, Hanna Hepp and Herrer,a were defeated 6-1, 2-6 and 4-6 against Kalamazoo Valley C.C.
