The National Junior College Athletic Association has named Seward County Community College sophomore, Tanner Rindels, as the NJCAA Division I Baseball Player of the Week, for the week ending April 22. Rindels led the No. 19 Saints to an 8-2 week with doubleheader sweeps over Colby Community College and Garden City Community College and four victories against Barton County Community College. Rindels is the third player from Seward County this season that has been named National Player or Pitcher of the Week, and the seventh player in the history of the SCCC program.

Rindels, a 60 sophomore from Hugoton, Kan., batted .548 (17-for-31) with 12 runs scored, three doubles, two triples, six home runs and 21 RBI last week. He posted eight multi-hit games, including a three hit performance against Garden City, going 3-for-4 with a two-run home run, a grand slam and a career-high six RBI.

Rindels also blasted two home runs in a first-place battle at Butler Community College, going 2-for-3 with five RBI. Rindels collected 42 total bases, five walks and recorded an astonishing 1.355 slugging percentage in 10 games played.

Rindels is currently tied for eighth in the nation for home runs (12), 12th in the nation for triples (6) and he is tied for 38th in the country in RBI (49). This season Rindels is batting .373 with 46 runs scored, 14 doubles and a team-leading .766 slugging percentage.
