The Seward County Community College softball team continues to climb in the latest National Junior College Athletic Association Top 20 poll. The Lady Saints (43-5) moved up three places in the poll to No. 11, after ranking 14th in last weeks poll. It is the fifth straight week that Seward County has been ranked in the Top 20 poll. During the last week, Seward County swept doubleheaders from Barton County Community College (10-2, 9-0), Cloud County Community College (13-3, 23-7) and Colby Community College (16-2, 14-1). The Lady Saints are 40-2 over their last 42 games, including a 17 game winning streak and a current 21 game winning streak.

Seward County has one of the best offensive line-ups in the nation with a team batting average of .396, ranking first in the Region VI and sixth in the nation. The Lady Saints pitching staff has also dominated with both pitchers, Dana McLaren (20-3) and Stephanie McCarthy (22-2), having won over 20 games each and with a team earned run average of 2.15, compared to their opponents lofty 9.49 ERA.

The Lady Saints have 10 regular season games remaining including four games that count toward the Jayhawk West Conference standings and eight contests that will go toward Division I Region VI District standings. The Lady Saints are currently in first-place in the Jayhawk West (12-0) and Region VI District (12-0) standings. The winner of the Region VI District standings will host the Division I Region VI Tournament, May 5-6.
