The Seward County Community College softball team swept a Region VI District doubleheader from Neosho County Community College 9-1 and 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at Lady Saints Softball Field. Seward County had seven hits from their top three hitters in their line-up in game-one and used a solo home run from Lili Franco and a RBI single from Sarah Venegas in game-two to help the Lady Saints extend their 11 game winning streak. Sophomore Meisha Patterson recorded three stolen bases in game-one giving her 19 for the season, breaking the all-time Seward County single-season stolen base record of 18, which Patterson set in 2006 during her freshman season.

Sophomore Dana McLaren earned the victory on the mound tossing a six-inning complete game allowing three hits, one run and striking out four batters.

Freshman third baseman Rachel Balencia (2-for-2, two runs and two RBI) and Jena Rue (2-for-4 with two RBI) also had standout performances in game-one.

In game-two, Franco broke the scoreless tie with a deep solo home run to left center field in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Lady Saints added a run in the sixth inning on a RBI single by Venegas, while holding Neosho County to just one run in the seventh to pick up their 33rd win of the season.

Sophomore right-handed pitcher Stephanie McCarthy was stellar on the mound in game-two allowing just three hits and one run in her complete game victory. She is now 18-2 on the season with a team-best 1.72 earned run average. Franco led all Lady Saints hitters going 2-for-3 at the plate.
