The Seward County Community College Livestock Judging Team traveled to Des Moines, Iowa recently where the team placed third out of 21 teams. The team was fourth in reasons and second in placings. The team consisted of Trevor Winchester, Liberal; Zach McCraken, Syracuse; Sandi Cortez, Thibodaux, LA; and Sara McManus, Castle Rock, Colo. Seward County also had two other teams that placed in the top fifteen at the contest. Those team members were Teresa Manriquez, Hugoton; Melissa King, Taloga, Okla.; Luke Wempe, Lawrence; Jessica Swan, Johnson; Alissa Imler, Satanta; Blake Williams,Perryton, Texas; Erin Russell, Hooker, Okla.; and Whitney Plunkett, Syracuse.
Ninety-two individuals competed in the contest with Winchester placing fourth in reasons, sixth in placings and tying for fifth overall; Cortez, 11th overall; and McCraken, 14th; and Manriquez, 12th in reasons.
The next event the team will compete in is the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo March 14.
