The National Junior College Athletic Association announced Wednesday that Seward County Community College men’s basketball player Theron Wilson has been named the NJCAA Player of the Week, for Nov. 19-25. Wilson led the Saints to a 3-0 record last week with victories on the road against Newman University J.V. (111-75), Cowley College (97-87) and Sterling College J.V. (95-51). Wilson is having a phenomenal start to his sophomore season averaging 25.7 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 3.2 steals and 2.4 blocks per game.

Wilson, a 6-foot-5-inch forward from Topeka, Kan., posted a career-high in scoring (33 points) and rebounding (20) in the Saints win on Wednesday at Newman University J.V. Against Cowley College in the Pratt Thanksgiving Classic Wilson collected 28 points with 16 rebounds. In Seward’s final game of the week, Wilson scored 19 points with 11 rebounds in his third double-double of the week against Sterling College J.V. Wilson has collected six consecutive double-double’s in the Saints last six games.

Wilson is currently leading the NJCAA Region VI in scoring (25.7 ppg.) and rebounding (12.3 rpg.). The Saints will be in action this weekend at the Jayhawk Shootout (Coffeyville, Kan.) on Friday night against No. 11 Coffeyville Community College at 7 p.m. and on Sunday at 9 a.m. against Labette Community College.
