The National Junior College Athletic Association announced Wednesday that Seward County Community College women’s basketball player Tegan Cunningham has been named the NJCAA Player of the Week, for Nov. 19-25. Cunningham led the Lady Saints to a perfect 2-0 record last week with victories over Williston State College (77-36) and McCook Community College (96-47). Cunningham is leading the No. 8-ranked Lady Saints this season in scoring averaging 16.4 points per game during her freshman season.

Cunningham, a 6-foot-1-inch guard/forward from Doncaster, Australia, scored 17 points and pulled down 13 rebounds, marking her fifth double-double of the season in the Lady Saints victory last Friday against Williston State College. In Seward’s victory over McCook, Cunningham scored 21 points and collected eight rebounds and five steals. For the week, Cunningham shot 53 percent from the field including a perfect 3-of-3 effort from behind the three-point line.

Cunningham is 12th in the NJCAA Region VI in scoring (16.4 ppg.), 14th in three-point shooting percentage (.400), eighth in total rebounding (9.8 rpg.) and seventh in steals (3.4 spg.).

The No. 8 nationally-ranked Lady Saints will be in action this weekend at the Jayhawk Shootout (Coffeyville, Kan.) on Friday against Labette C.C. at 9 p.m. and on Sunday against Fort Scott C.C. at 1 p.m.
