Katti Thoman, of Garden City, a current second-year medical laboratory technician student at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, was recognized as the SCCC/ATS outstanding student by the Kansas Society for Clinical Laboratory Science.
Medical Laboratory Technician faculty, Dr. Suzanne Campbell, program coordinator, and Jamie Titus, clinical coordinator, nominated Thoman for the award.
“Katti is a great student,” said Campbell. “She is always prepared for class and clinicals. She demonstrates a commitment to learning, and demonstrates outstanding technical competency. Katti will be a wonderful addition to the medical laboratory science profession when she graduates in August.”
The MLT program is an online, two-year course of study that culminates in an associate of applied science degree. Medical lab technicians perform analytical testing to provide assistance to physicians in disease diagnosis and management.
