Seward County Community College sophomore baseball player, Erik Hegstad, has been selected to participate in the Region VI vs. Region II Benefit All-Star Workout and doubleheader at Oklahoma State University on Sunday, October 29. The workout will begin at 9 a.m. beginning with the 60 yard sprints, followed with defensive evaluations and batting practice for all participants from both regions. All proceeds from this event will go to support the family of Seminole State College’s head baseball coach Eric Myers, who recently had a tumor removed from his brain.

Each community college from the Kansas and Oklahoma/Arkansas regions has selected a player to represent their institutions as a participant in the workout and doubleheader. Pre-game infield will begin at 1:20 p.m. with the doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.

Hegstad is a sophomore right fielder from Greeley, Colorado. In 2006, Hegstad earned Honorable Mention Jayhawk West All-Conference. Last season, he led the Saints in doubles (23), RBI (49), slugging percentage (.580), on-base-plus-slugging percentage (.997) and extra-base hits (31).
