The Seward County Community College volleyball team lost their sixth consecutive match on Wednesday night in a Jayhawk West Conference match-up against No. 10 Hutchinson Community College (16-10, 6-0), in Hutchinson at the Sports Arena. The Lady Saints were defeated in three games, 26-30, 18-30 and 27-30. Hutchinson remains in first-place in the Jayhawk West Conference, while Seward County (15-21, 2-3) falls to fourth-place in conference play and remains in third place in NJCAA Division I District standings. Seward County falls to 0-9 against NJCAA Top 20 ranked teams this season.

Seward County battled in game-one and game-three and lost a 12-point decision in game-two. The Lady Saints were led by Jennifer Noel (eight kills), Alex Droogsma (30 assists) and Katy Troutman (11 digs).

The Lady Saints have three Jayhawk West Conference matches remaining this season with two road matches and one match at the Green House.

This weekend the Seward County volleyball team will compete at the Missouri State Tournament in West Plains, Missouri. SCCC will begin competition on Friday, Oct. 20 playing three matches against No. 3 Iowa Western Community College (46-2) at 11:00 a.m., No. 4 Missouri State-West Plains (24-5) at 3:30 p.m. and against NJCAA D-II Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (5-6) at 5:00 p.m. Single elimination bracket play will conclude on Saturday with match-upís and times to be announced after play on Friday.
