The Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) hosted their annual basketball coaches’ pre-season press conference Monday morning in Wichita, Kan., at the Best Western Airport Inn. KJCCC conference officials released that Seward County Community College received a No. 5 ranking by conference head coaches in the Jayhawk West Conference Pre-Season Coaches Poll. The Saints are coming off a 21-10 overall record in 2005-2006, and a 7-9 Jayhawk West Conference record finishing in a tie for fifth-place in the conference last season.

The Saints welcome back five sophomores who played on last years team, including two returning starters in Theron Wilson (Topeka, Kan.) and Michael Tyree (Somerset, N.J.).

The Saints have finished as Jayhawk West Conference champions or conference runner-up in seven of the past nine seasons under 11th year head coach, Dave Brown, who broke the programs all-time wins record last season. Brown currently stands at 236-90 overall in his 10 seasons as head coach. In addition, the Saints have welcomed 10 freshmen to their program for 2006-2007.
