The National Junior College Athletic Association has announced their 2006 Pre-Season All-Americanís. Seward County Community College returning sophomore outside hitter Janete Ferreira, was named a Pre-Season Third Team All-American. Ferreira was one of 18 players who were named First, Second or Third team pre-season All-American. Ferreira was joined by fellow KJCCC player, Ana Kokanovic (Colby C.C.), who was also selected third team.

Ferreira capped of a solid freshman season in 2005 with a team-high 408 kills, averaging a team-best 3.61 kills per game. Ferreira received Jayhawk West All-Conference and NJCAA All-Region VI honors after her freshman season. Additionally, Ferreira was named NJCAA National Player of the Week last season on September 20.

This season, Ferreira is leading the Lady Saints in kills (55), kills per game (4.23) and attack attempts (158). Ferreira is the first Lady Saints player to be named NJCAA Pre-Season All-American since 1998, when Brenda Dantas was named a First Team Pre-Season All-American.
