An exciting weekend of volleyball finished at the Green House on Saturday night, with Frank Phillips College winning the SCCC Kick-Off Classic on the campus at Seward County Community College. Following the final match of the classic, the All-Tournament Team was announced. All-Tournament selections were voted on by head coaches from all five teams that competed in the Kick-Off Classic.

The Tournament’s Most Outstanding Player was Perla Faudo, a 5’8” freshman setter from Frank Phillips College. Rounding out the All-Tournament was Pamela Luiz (Frank Phillips College), Jovana Lubura (New Mexico Military), Juliana Nascimento (Seward County), Marelle Lepmets (Garden City C.C.), Avaniki Campbell (Cisco J.C.) and Keahilani Kaleo (Garden City C.C.).

Nascimento, a 6’0” sophomore right side hitter from Guarulhos, Brazil, was named to the All-Tournament team after recording 35 kills, 31 digs, 17 service aces, 10 assists and five blocks throughout the tournament. Nascimento posted two double/double’s in four matches.

Frank Phillips College won the classic with a perfect 4-0 match record. The Lady Plainsmen didn’t drop a single game throughout the classic sweeping each opponent they faced. The Lady Saints, New Mexico Military and Garden City C.C. all finished 2-2, tied for second, third and fourth place and Cisco J.C. came in fifth place with a 0-4 match record.

Freshman Alex Droogsma collected 137 assists and 25 digs… Freshman Jenny Schwier collected her first collegiate double/double with 14 kills and 12 digs against Garden City and led the team with 10 blocks… Freshman Jennifer Noel posted 28 kills and seven blocks… Sophomore Janete Ferreira led all SCCC players with 55 kills and recorded 30 digs… Freshman Katy Troutman led the Lady Saints with 49 digs and chipped in three aces.
