The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced the 2005-2006 Spring Academic Teams-of-the-Year. Seward County Community College was represented in three sports with menís and womenís tennis each ranking in the top four and baseball coming in the top 15. Academic teams were based on each sports cumulative grade point average.

The Lady Saints tennis program received a No. 3 ranking in womenís tennis with a 3.58 g.p.a. The No. 1 and No. 2 womenís tennis programs were Lewis & Clark C.C. (3.72 gpa), and Rend Lake College (3.70 gpa). Lady Saints Head Coach, Darin Workman, led SCCC to a 10th place finish this spring at the NJCAA National Tennis Tournament in Tucson, Ariz.

Seward Countyís menís tennis program didnít fall far behind with a No. 4 national ranking and a 3.24 team grade point average. Leading the way in menís tennis division were Rock Valley College (3.43 gpa), Copiah-Lincoln C.C. (3.37 gpa), and Tyler J.C. (3.30 gpa). Workman and the Saints completed their spring season with a 9th place finish at the NJCAA National Tournament in Plano, Texas.

The Seward County Saints baseball team recorded a No. 14 national team ranking with a 3.05 grade point average. There were five other Region VI baseball programs listed among the top 20 academic teams this spring including Colby (5th), Fort Scott C.C. (8th) Barton County (13th), Hutchinson (15th), and Allen County (16th).

In addition, the Saints baseball program was NJCAA National Academic Team-of-the-Year runner-up in 1999-2000 and 2000-2001.
