The Seward County Lady Saints have painted the KJCCC Player and Pitcher of the Week awards green the past two weeks as Stephanie Mark and Jill Dickson took home the honors for their performances on the Lady Saints Spring Break trip while Rachel Shockley and Blaire Taylor earned the awards for their work in three double headers last week for Seward.

Mark hit .391 and drove in 7 runs in Seward’s Spring Break trip to Texas and Arizona to earn Jayhawk West Player of the Week honors. She had 4 straight multi-hit games midweek and brought in 7 runs in the 3-1 stretch for the Lady Saints. Dickson was 2-1 in a tough week for the Lady Saints with games against #12 Odessa and DII #3 South Mountain to notch Jayhawk West Pitcher of the Week for the second time. The sophomore right-hander struck out 16 and posted a 3.10 ERA in 20 1/3 innings of work.
Shockley hit an even .500 last week for Seward County, helping the Lady Saints to a 5-1 record in 6 games. Thursday on the road at Otero, the freshman catcher had a big day, going 5 for 8 with 3 RBI’s and backed that up with a 4 for 6, 3 RBI day against Barton on Saturday to pick up Player of the Week honors. Taylor had a perfect 3-0 week for Seward, posting a 1.59 ERA in 22 innings pitched over three games to earn Pitcher of the Week. Monday against Dodge City she whirled a two hit complete game, striking out a career high 8 in a win over the Lady Conqs. Thursday against a tough Otero team, Taylor again stepped up big for the Lady Saints, going all 9 innings of an extra inning win for Seward to help Seward beat the Lady Rattlers 7-5. On Saturday Taylor allowed just 2 hits in a 8-0 shutout against the Barton Cougars to push the Lady Saints into first place in the Jayhawk West.
