JEFF BREWER & TOBY DAVIS NAMED FIRST TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) officials have announced the 2006 baseball Jayhawk West All-Conference selections. The Seward County Community College baseball team had seven players earn Jayhawk West All-Conference recognition with sophomore shortstop, Jeff Brewer and freshman third baseman, Toby Davis, each being named to the All-Conference First Team.

Five other Saints were named all-conference as sophomores Brian Majors (outfield) and Michael Jarman (left-handed pitcher) were selected Second Team All-Conference and sophomores, Tyler Henry (catcher), Brett Davis (left-handed pitcher) and freshman, Erik Hegstad (outfield) were named Honorable Mention All-Conference.

The Jayhawk West Coach of the Year was awarded to Barton County Community College Head Coach Mike Warren, Most Valuable Player was given to Hutchinson’s sophomore first baseman/right handed pitcher, Thad Webber and Freshman of the Year was awarded to Austin Holt, an outfielder from Barton County C.C.

Brewer, (Washington, Okla.) who was a second team All-Conference selection last season is currently batting .313 (55-for-176) with 38 runs scored, eight doubles, six triples and six home runs with 32 RBI. The Saints shortstop currently owns a seven game hitting streak where he is batting .379 (11-for-29). In addition, Brewer has collected 14 multi-hit games this season.

Toby Davis (Dill City, Okla.) joins Holt as the only freshman on the All-Conference First Team. Davis, a power-hitting switch hitter has been a major contributor in the middle of the Saints line-up all season. Davis is batting .321 (52-for-162) with 42 runs scored, 10 doubles, five triples and nine home runs. Davis leads the Saints with 27 walks (only 23 strikeouts) and is second on the team with 40 RBI.

Left fielder, Brian Majors was voted onto the Second Team All-Conference list for the second straight season, although, as a freshman, Majors earned the honor as a second baseman. Majors leads the Saints this season with 49 runs scored and 74 base hits. The Owasso (Okla.) H.S. product is batting .389 (74-for-190) with seven doubles, four triples, two home runs and 31 RBI (lead-off hitter) during his sophomore season. In addition, Majors has 22 multi-hit games this season.

Jarman, (Edmond, Okla.) was tabbed as the Jayhawk West’s top left-handed pitcher, being the only lefty on either the First or Second Team selections. Jarman has posted impressive numbers all spring with a 7-3 record, 2.54 earned run average (ERA), five complete-games, 85 strikeouts and 24 walks in 78 innings pitched.

Sophomore lefty, Brett Davis, (Elk City, Okla.) earned Second Team All-Conference honors a year ago and makes his second appearance on the All-Conference list this season as an Honorable Mention pick. Davis owns a 6-5 record with a 3.94 ERA including a team-best six complete games pitched. Davis has thrown a team-high 80 innings and has struck out 42 batters this season.

Saints starting catcher, Tyler Henry, (Denver, Colo.) earned Honorable Mention All-Conference in his second year as the Saints main-stay behind the plate. Henry this season has batted .285 (35-for-123) with 24 runs scored, 11 doubles and 25 RBI. Henry has thrown out 35 % of would be base stealers this season.

Freshman right fielder, Erik Hegstad, (Greeley, Colo.) also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference and is one of the Saints leading hitters this season. Hegstad, is batting .364 (67-for-187) with 36 runs scored, 20 doubles, three triples, five home runs and 45 RBI. Hegstad leads the Saints this season in doubles, RBI and extra base hits (28).
