The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced that Seward County Community College right-handed pitcher, Becky Holland, has been named NJCAA Softball Pitcher of the Week, for April 16-22. This is Holland’s second time in her career to be named Junior College National Pitcher of the Week. As a freshman, Holland received the honor on April 5, 2005.

Holland, a 5’10” sophomore from Sublette, Kansas, led the Lady Saints to a perfect 4-0 record last week, pitching the Lady Saints to a 10-4 victory over Garden City and a 5-0 shutout over Barton County. On the week, Holland shined with a 2-0 record with four strikeouts, one shutout, one walk, and four runs allowed in 14 innings pitched.

Holland is now 15-9 this season with a 2.50 earned run average and 78 strikeouts in 154 innings pitched.

On Friday, April 28 Holland’s big week will continue as she signs her official letter of intent to Northwestern Oklahoma State University (NAIA) in Alva, Okla. Holland will have a signing ceremony at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Seward County Community College All-American Room located in the SCCC activities building.

All friends, family, SCCC staff and faculty and Lady Saints supporters are welcome to attend the signing. Holland will be joined by Seward County Softball Coaches, Andrea Gustafson and Renee Metzker, along with Head Coach of Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Cody Hooper.
