On the first official signing date of the Spring period, Seward County Lady Saints middle hitter Sheina Fernandes has made her choice for the next step of her academic and volleyball career and it will be a two year stint in Tulsa to play for the Golden Eagles of Oral Roberts University.

Fernandes was a two year standout for the Lady Saints, earning Jayhawk West Conference Freshman of the Year and 1st Team All-Region accolades in 09 before being named 1st Team All-Region and All-Conference again in 2010 as a sophomore. She was a three time KJCCC Player of the Week winner as a sophomore as she led Seward to a 23-18 overall record and a trip to the Region VI Championship match. She led the Lady Saints in kills per game (3.16), hitting percentage (.354), and blocks per game (.95) this season and finishes her Seward County career in 6th place in blocks (287), 7th place in hitting percentage (.344), and 11th on the all-time kills list (767). She will join an Oral Roberts team that finished 12-14 a season ago but returns 11 players looking to take the Golden Eagles to the top of the Summit League.
