After a disappointing showing at the ITA Regionals a week before in Oklahoma City, the Seward County Saints menís tennis team finished their fall season about as well as you possibly can with a clean 10-0 sweep against Friends University Friday afternoon in Wichita.

The closest matches of the day came early in the dual as Nathan Nelmes, playing in the #1 spot for Seward took a 6-1, 6-2 final over Billy Bloomquist and Felipe Cruz, the Saints #2 man, won 6-2, 6-3 over Colton Heinrich for the Falcons. Raphael Machado won 6-1, 6-2 in #3 singles play over Cory Cockrell while Christiano Mendes would take a 6-1, 6-4 decision over David Alley in the #4 slot for the Saints. Lucas Izkovitz finished up a perfect 10-0 fall with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wes Miller in #5 singles and Alex Richards and Rafael Raw finished the day strong for Seward at the bottom of the ladder with 6-1, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-0 wins respectively in the #6 and #7 slots.

In doubles action the Saints were equally as dominate. Nelmes and Lobo took care of Heinrich and Cockrell 8-3 in #1 doubles play and Cruz and Machado teamed up to drop Bloomquist and Alley 8-2 . Finishing up a perfect afternoon was Mendes and Izkovitz who beat Miller and Harting 8-2 to put an exclamation mark on the Saints sweep.

The 10-0 victory means the Saints finish their 2010 fall season at 83-28 which should bode well for them when the initial ITA rankings come out later this year.
