A red hot job as soon as it opened, the Seward County Menís Basketball program has found its new assistant coach. Jay Cyriac, a New Jersey native has been formally introduced as Head Coach Bryan Zollingerís new assistant and is already on the recruiting trail around the country to try and restock one of the Jayhawk Westís perennial powers.
Cyriac has a plethora of coaching experience on many different levels. He started off as an assistant at national power College of Southern Idaho where he worked from 1999-2003, helping the Golden Eagles to an average of 27 wins per season during his tenure. After leaving Twin Falls, Cryriac worked for one year as a scout for the Philadelphia 76ers. While there, Cyriac was part of the first efforts to evaluate and scout high school and junior college prospects around the country. After one year with the 76ers Cyriac moved on to Mobile, Alabama where he was an assistant coach and assistant to the Athletic Director at the University of South Alabama. During his three seasons with the Jags, Cyriac had a widespread job list, doing everything from on court coaching to game operations for all South Alabama athletic contests, to supervising special projects assigned by the Athletic Director. In late January of 2009 Cyriac switched his attention to the gridiron where he worked as a media relations assistant for the Senior Bowl where he helped arrange player interviews and game day operations for the yearly classic. Most recently Cyriac was employed by the New York Knicks Al Harrington where he helped the NBA star oversee his newfound business ventures.
