Parents of graduating high school seniors, graduating high school seniors, current college students, and adults seeking additional education and training toward a current or new career all face the same challenge - “How do I afford college?”
To help answer that question, Seward County Community College/Area Technical School has launched a new financial-aid guidance program for 2010. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Assistance Program has been established to help parents and students through the often-overwhelming task of applying for federal financial aid. The program will be provided through a partnership between the SCCC/ATS Financial Aid Department and Business Division.
The FAFSA determines eligibility for common forms of financial assistance including:
• Federal Pell Grants (Based on need, you can receive $5,550+ for 2010)
• Federal Student Loans
• Federal Work-Study Employment Funding
• Special Grant Opportunities
The program will run from 1-4 p.m., Mondays, and 5-8 p.m., Tuesdays, through May 4 in the Hobble Academic Building, 1801 N. Kansas in Liberal. Parents and students should meet in the Admissions office.
To schedule a guidance session, call 620-417-1100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Bring the parents’ and student’s 2009 income tax statements, W2’s, birthdates, social security numbers (if applicable) and any additional asset information.
Seward County Community College/Area Technical School offers many additional scholarship opportunities and tuition grants.
