Parents of graduating high school seniors, graduating high school seniors, current college students, and adults seeking additional education and training toward a current or new career all face the same challenge - “How do I afford college?”
To help answer that question, Seward County Community College/Area Technical School has launched a new financial-aid guidance program for 2010. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Assistance Program has been established to help parents and students through the often-overwhelming task of applying for federal financial aid. The program will be provided through a partnership between the SCCC/ATS Financial Aid Department and Business Division.
The FAFSA determines eligibility for common forms of financial assistance including:
• Federal Pell Grants (Based on need, you can receive $5,550+ for 2010)
• Federal Student Loans
• Federal Work-Study Employment Funding
• Special Grant Opportunities
To schedule a guidance session, call 620-417-1100 or email firstname.lastname@example.org, the program will run from 1-4 p.m., Mondays, and 5-8 p.m., Tuesday, March 29-May 4 in the Hobble Academic Building, 1801 N. Kansas in Liberal.
Bring the parents’ and student’s 2009 income tax statements, W2’s, birthdates, social security numbers (if applicable) and any additional asset information.
Seward County Community College/Area Technical School offers many additional scholarship opportunities and tuition grants.
