Seward County Community College volleyball player, Janete Ferreira, was selected to the Midland College Classic All-Tournament Team. Ferreira was named All-Tournament team after leading the Lady Saints volleyball team to a 2-2 record at the two-day classic last weekend. Ferreira posted 49 kills, 29 digs, four service aces and she recorded one double/double (12 kills/10 digs vs. New Mexico Military). This All-Tournament team selection is Ferreira’s second of the season, and the fourth in her two-year career at Seward County C.C.

Ferreira has been the top offensive threat for the Lady Saints (14-15 overall, 1-1 Jayhawk West) this season collecting 391 kills. She currently ranks 20th in the nation in kills per game (3.94).

Other Lady Saints ranking nationally in statistical categories are freshman libero, Katy Troutman, who is 25th in the country in digs per game (4.74). Troutman has posted 474 digs this season, ranking her second all-time in Lady Saints history for single-season digs. Freshman setter, Alex Droogsma, is 18th in the nation in assists per game (10.51). Droogsma has posted several double/doubles and has a total of 1,062 assists this season (seventh all-time in single-season assists).

Seward County will be back in action Wednesday, Oct. 4 hosting Dodge City Community College (2-21, 0-4) for a 6:30 p.m. conference match at the Green House in Liberal.
