There was no doubt who the most dominate player in the conference was this season and Wednesday she was honored for it as Rachel Barnes and three other Seward County Lady Saints were named to the Jayhawk West All-Conference team. Barnes was named the Conference Player of the Year after she led the conference in scoring by over 3 and a half points per game at 20.7 per contest. Not only was Barnes a lethal scoring threat, she was one of the conference’s top rebounders at just 5’9, pulling down over 8 rebounds per game and ranking 5th in the West in that category. Megan Lassley earned a 2nd team All-Conference selection after leading the Jayhawk West in assists for the 2nd straight season and finishing in the top 5 in steals for the 2nd straight year. The sophomore started every game at the point for Seward this season averaging 10 points and 4 assists per game. Maputo, Mozambique natives Vaneza Junior and Nadia Rosario were both named Honorable Mention All-Conference after stepping up their game during their sophomore seasons. Junior averaged 10 points per game and was in the top 5 in the conference in steals with 82 this season. Rosario returned from a injury that ended her season last year to average 9 points and 7 rebounds per game and finished the season with 53 blocked shots, which was 3rd in the Jayhawk West. The four selections was the most from any team in the conference. The Lady Saints will travel to Wichita Friday for a date with Coffeyville at 7:00 in the 2nd round of the Region VI Tournament as they look for their 30th win of the year.
