The Seward County Community College womenís basketball program has announced their 2006-2007 schedule. Lady Saints second year head coach, Toby Wynn (25-7 record) and assistant coach, Kim Ortega-Davis, welcome back five letterman including returning starters Ilda Chambe and Taushelle Rushing. The Lady Saints 2006-2007 schedule includes 14 home games, including six home games during their non-conference schedule. The Lady Saints will also take a winter break trip to Palm Springs, California, where they will take on San Bernardino College (Dec. 29) and Imperial Valley College (Dec. 30).

The Lady Saints non-conference schedule will not include a four-year junior varsity program and will again challenge the Lady Saints and prepare them for Jayhawk West Conference competition. Last season, Seward County posted a perfect 14-0 record during their non-conference schedule, which included four Top 20 ranked opponents.

Seward Countyís first game of the season will be a re-match of the 2002 NJCAA National Championship game at the Pepsi Classic, as they will match-up with Northeastern Oklahoma A&M on Friday, Nov. 3 at 6:00 p.m. at the Green House. Seward County defeated Northeastern Oklahoma A&M 87-80, to win Seward Countyís first ever NJCAA National Championship in any sport. Last season, N.E. Oklahoma A&M opened their season with a No. 22 NJCAA Pre-Season ranking.

Seward County will look to get revenge from Labette C.C. in the Jayhawk Shootout on Friday, Dec. 1 in Coffeyville, Kan. Last season, Labette knocked the Lady Saints out of the Region VI Tournament with a down-to-the-wire 62-60 victory in the Region VI Tournament Quarter Finals. Labette will be looking to reload after graduating all five starters off last seasonís team, which included Region VI Player of the Year, Wintonia Hart.

The Jayhawk West Conference season will begin for Seward County on Jan. 3, as they travel to conference foe Dodge City C.C. for a 6:00 p.m. match-up. The Lady Saints host their first conference game on Jan. 6, against Hutchinson C.C. at 6:00 p.m. at the Green House.

Seward County will travel to Colby C.C. on Jan. 31, to take on the defending Conference Champions at 6:00 p.m. at the Colby Community Building. The Lady Saints will complete their regular season with back-to-back home games against Pratt C.C. (Feb. 28) and Colby C.C. (Mar. 3).

The Region VI Tournament will begin with the First Round Playoff on Mar. 7, at the home of the higher seed. Then the Region VI Tournament will conclude in Wichita at Charles Koch Arena on Mar. 10-13. The NJCAA National Tournament will be played Mar. 20-24 at the Bicentennial Center in Salina, Kan.
