With all due respect to Hall of Famer Dominique Wilkins, Seward County Community College has found their own ‘Human Highlight Reel’ and he comes from Greenville, North Carolina. The Saints HHR, Tony Smith has been named Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week for his efforts in Seward County wins over Pratt on the road and Cloud County at home last week. The Seward point guard continues to fill up the stat sheet with regularity and last week was no different. The sophomore scored 18 points, had 9 rebounds, and 9 assists on Wednesday against then, fellow first place Pratt, before turning around Saturday night and scoring 23 points on 6 of 9 shooting while also helping on the boards with 7 rebounds, and dishing to his teammates with 8 assists against Cloud. Smith is currently the Jayhawk’s leading assist man at over 7 per game while also near the top in scoring (2nd) and steals (3rd). Smith and his Saints will have a couple of days to catch their breath before traveling to Dodge City Sunday to take on the Conqs and then Seward will return home to clash with defending Region VI Champion Garden City Wednesday night in the Greenhouse.
