The Seward County Community College womenís tennis team competed last weekend at the Bethany College Tournament in Lindsborg, Kan. The Lady Saints as a team went 14-11 overall in match competition with seven singles players and three doubles pair taking on the competition. Seward County competed against several four-year universities and junior colleges in the tournament last weekend. Seward County used a strong performance from freshman, Erica Herrera, to claim one tournament champion as Herrera won the 6th Flight division.

SCCC freshman, Hollie Davis competed in the 4th Flight division where she went 2-1 with wins over Nebraska Wesleyan and Kansas Wesleyan. Davisí only loss came against Washburn.

Seward County had the following results in singles play, Amina Abdullah 1-1, Uthala Abdullah 1-1, Hanna Hepp 1-2, Portia Gent 1-1 and Sanela Dejanovic 1-1. Overall in singles competition, Seward County posted an 11-7 record.

In doubles play, Amina and Uthala Abdullah went 1-1 with a victory over William Jewell. Hanna Hepp and Erica Herrera went 0-2 and Portia Gent and Hollie Davis went 2-1 with a forfeit victory and a win against Bethany College.

The Lady Saints are now 24-24 overall this season. Seward County travels to Great Bend, Kan., this weekend where they will compete in the Barton County Tournament.
