The Seward County Community College menís tennis team traveled to Lindsborg, Kan., last weekend to compete in the Bethany College Tournament. The Saints finished competition with a 19-15 overall record. SCCC sophomore, Adam Hambleton, led the Saints with a tournament championship in the 4th flight at No. 6 singles. The Saints tennis program competed against four-year universities and colleges along with junior colleges last weekend. Seward County improves to 48-24 overall this fall season.

Seward County No. 2 singles player, Roberto Martinez, captured the consolation bracket championship in the 1st Flight. Martinez posted an opening match loss to Emporia State, but then picked up victories over Kansas Wesleyan, Emporia State and against one independent player. Martinez, a freshman from Comitan, Mexico, is now 7-1 overall this fall season.

Saints No. 4 singles player, Bruno Falcao, went 3-1 to finish as a runner-up in the tournament finals in the 2nd Flight. Falcao won his first three matches against Bethel, Bethany, and against an independent player and then lost in the tournament finals against Washburn. Falcao improves to 7-1 overall in singles play this fall.

The Saints continued their impressive fall in singles competition where they went 16-8 last weekend. The Saints struggles continued in doubles competition where they went 3-7 last weekend.

Seward County travels to Great Bend, Kan., this weekend where they will compete in the Barton County Tournament.
