After a hard day of classes and a tough workout at practice, there was nothing more that the Seward County Baseball Team wanted to do than hang out with some of their friends from Big Brothers Big Sisters at the Adventure Bay Water Park. “We looked forward to this all day” said sophomore outfielder Luke Campbell. The team spent a couple hours with the little guys and gals of BBBS at the water park shooting hoops in the pool, flying down the slide, and struggling across the net bridge. The littles and bigs put smiles on each other’s faces back and forth throughout the night with different games and challenges as well as just being together and having fun. “Everyone tells us thank you for doing things like this, but really we enjoy doing it” sophomore catcher Todd Glime said. “We get to come out and give them happy memories here, build relationships with them and then watch them grow during out time here which gives us happy memories of Seward County. Anything we can do to give back a little bit of the kindness and support that this community gives to us, we will gladly do” he said. Head Coach Galen McSpadden said of the event, “when you can see how much fun these kids are having, both the littles and the bigs, you can see why we team up with BBBS so often. It is a win/win situation as the littles benefit from having these guys as role models and our players benefit by growing up as young men when they see how lucky they really have it.” Coach McSpadden and his Saints will continue their fall workouts/season through October and open up their spring schedule February 13th at home against Northeastern.
