A day after losing all of four matches of their pool play competition, the Seward County Community College volleyball team bounced back to win three consecutive matches to win the consolation bracket at the Salt Lake City Tournament. Saturday’s final day of competition at the tournament was played with a best-three-out-of-five games format. Nationally ranked Seward County improves to 8-8 overall this season and remains 0-0 in the Jayhawk West.

The No. 15 ranked Lady Saints defeated Pierce College (CA) this morning 30-24, 20-30, 30-26 and 30-25, to advance to the consolation bracket semi-finals. Seward County got revenge on Mt. Hood C.C., a team that beat SCCC yesterday in pool play competition, 30-19, 31-29, 22-30 and 30-28. In the consolation bracket finals, Seward County won in a come from behind effort 34-32, 27-30, 23-30, 30-20 and 15-8, to win the championship of the consolation bracket.

Seward County was led by sophomore right side hitter, Juliana Nascimento, who was named to the All-Tournament Team.
