After one day of play Seward sits in a tie for 10th, but just 2 points out of 5th place in the tournament. Fabiola Wisnesky faced a tough draw in round one, squaring off with the 5th ranked player in the country from Meridan CC. She lost that match 6-0, 6-2 but will still compete in the consolation round of the tournament. Juliana Boas moved onto the round of 16 by defeating a player from Sauk Valley CC in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. Valerie Stevens fell in one of the best matches of the day 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 against St. Petersburg College while the Lady Saints picked up points in both the #4 and #5 singles matches with wins from Alyssa Larson and Antigone Lowery. Larson lost her first set 6-4 before coming back to take the 2nd set 7-5 and then really turned it on in the 3rd and deciding set, winning 6-0 against Lewis and Clark CC.
