The Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Music Department will present two spring concerts. The formal concert will be at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 30 in the theater. The pops concert will be at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, May 2 in the theater.
Wind Ensemble members are Chelsea Ghumm and Diana Askew, Hugoton; Lacy Garcia, Lakin; Rachel Vangieson, Turpin, Okla.; Elisa Labra, Plains; Shawn McWhorter, Memphis, Texas; and Lydia Augustine, Luis Fuentes, Derek Bridenstine, Okoya James, Tina Fosdick, Shane Wedgeworth and Joseph Harmon, all of Liberal.
The group will perform “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Chester,” “Amazing Grace,” “Freedom Forever,” “Within These Hallowed Halls,” “Let Freedom Ring,” and “Lincolnshire Posy,” movements 1 & 6.
Vocal music students will include Ben Allen, Jeff Binns, Randy Hawk, Mikayla Knudsen, Jaime Mejia, Sergio Padilla, Jacob Riggs, Melissa Sabillon, Lilia Torres, Tuyet Trong, Hillary Anderson, Jared Ratzlaff, Monica Kerbo, Trina Fosdick and Ariana Parral, all of Liberal; Logan Green, Meade; Kiara Lowery, Oklahoma City; Rachel McDonald and Derek Bridenstine, Turpin, Okla.; Jimmy Ortiz, Ulysses and Victoria Jacob, Topeka.
The formal concert will feature Singing Saints Concert Choir doing a variety of Patriotic music including “Battle Hymn of the Republic,” “God Bless the USA,” “Armed Forces Salute,” “Salute to America,” and “Inscription of Hope.”
The pops concert will feature the Gentlemen’s Club, the Saintly Angels and various cameo performances by past and present students. Some of the songs include “Ruby Baby,” “She’s Got a Way,” “How ‘bout Them Cowgirls, Memory,” “I’ll Stand By You,” “You Raise Me Up,” “Unchained Melody” and “The Prayer.”
