For the second time this season it has been announced that two Seward County basketball players have swept the weekly Jayhawk West Conference Player of the Week voting. Rachel Barnes picks up her second KJCCC Player of the Week honor after she averaged nearly 19 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 steals a game in the Lady Saints grueling week against #16 Barton County, #18 Hutchinson, and Colby. Through 13 conference games thus far, Barnes has averaged over 15 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists per contest while shooting 46% from the field and 41% from the three-point line. Marquez Patterson has also been named KJCCC Player of the Week on the Menís side as he led the Saints to a 3-0 week including a road win against #9 Barton County as well as wins against Hutchinson and Colby. The freshman from Liberal averaged 16 points a game including a career high 27 on 11 of 17 shooting against Colby last Saturday night. He becomes the fourth different Seward County Saint to win the honor this season joining teammates Tony Smith, Marcus James, and Thijin Moses who all won the award earlier in the year. Both teams will take the floor next against Dodge City Saturday night in the Green House on Homecoming night. Pizza Hut will be the buyout sponsor and free tickets can be picked up at your local Pizza Hut locations.
