Facing their first road game of the season, the Seward County Saints Basketball Team proved that it wasn’t just home court advantage that led them to two lopsided victories last weekend in the Pepsi Classic. Seward County continued to put away their opponents early in the game as they held the Central Christian JV team to just 23 first half points and only 16 in the second half. The Saints shot 66% as a team and held the Tigers to just 32% shooting en route to their 70 point 109-39 win. Saints scoring was dispersed Thursday night as five players cracked the 16 point mark. Tony Smith and Drew Jones were the scoring leaders for the Saints with 18 a piece. Latiq Agard continued to play well on the inside for the Saints grabbing a team high 10 rebounds. The Saints tenacious defense came up big as they have all season in the early going creating 40 Central Christian turnovers.
The Saints resume their short in-state road trip Friday with a match-up against the St. Mary’s University JV team in Leavenworth.
