Playing against Dodge City for the fifth time this season, the Seward County Lady Saints Volleyball team really had nothing at stake except for pride. If they lost they would still be in 2nd place in the Jayhawk West and if they won they would be in the same position. That feeling was not what was showed on Saturday afternoon at Dodge City however. The Lady Saints continued their best play of the year winning the first set 25-20 on a .485 hitting percentage and just one error. The second set was more of the same as the Lady Saints connected on 16 of their 32 attacks with just three errors winning easily 25-16. After losing a close third set 25-22, the Lady Saints rebounded and won the 4th set 25-17 to take the match.

Seward County was led by Jelena Simic with 22 kills while Ami Wang chipped in with 7 without committing an error. Chelsea Myers ran the offense from the setter position and logged 40 assists and 8 digs while LaKendra Sanders was a dominate force at the net as we have come accustom to with 6 blocks and 7 kills. Libero Amanda Savage had one of her best matches of the season recording 24 digs in the win.

The Lady Saints now set their sights on the Region VI Tournament which will start with a play-in match Tuesday the 4th at home against Garden City at 6:30 p.m. Coach Bert Luallen is urging everyone in attendance on Tuesday to make the Greenhouse a black out by wearing black attire to the match and creating spirit for the Lady Saints. If the 34-14 Lady Saints can get by the Broncbusters, they will head to Hutchinson on Friday and prepare for double elimination bracket play starting Saturday against the winner of the Pratt/Dodge City match.
