Seward County Community College moved up to No. 10 in this week’s RINGOR NJCAA Division I Baseball Poll, jumping two spots after receiving a No. 12 ranking the past two weeks. It is the Saints’ highest ranking in the Top 20 poll since receiving a No. 5 ranking on May 7, 2003. Last week Seward County went 3-3 with a non-conference doubleheader split at Clarendon College (received votes, 34-13) and with a four-game conference split on the road at Hutchinson Community College (received votes, 37-9). SCCC enters its final week of the regular season with a 32-16 overall record.

Seward County is scheduled to play Clarendon College on Wednesday, April 23, and will host eighth-place Pratt Community College (17-29, 9-19) April 26-27 at Brent Gould Field in Liberal.

The Saints are currently batting .313 and have 109 doubles, 18 triples and 27 home runs offensively. Defensively, the Saints have a 4.30 earned run average and a .945 fielding percentage.

Sophomore Tomas Cruz has anchored the pitching staff with a 9-2 record and a 2.17 ERA, both of which lead the team. Four Seward County hitters are batting above .330, including freshmen Mikel Huston (.389) and Keegan Morrow (.381), along with sophomores David Masters (.376) and Erik Hansen (.346).
