Seward County Community College softball players Jennifer Collins and Courtney Auger have been named the RINGOR NJCAA Division I Softball Co-Player and Co-Pitcher of the Week, respectively. It is the second straight week that Auger has received top pitcher of the week recognition, and it is the second time in Collinsí career that she has been named the National Player of the Week. The duo led the Lady Saints to a 7-1 record last week that included a doubleheader sweep against then-No. 20 Otero Junior College. Collins and Auger also broke SCCC all-time records as Collins broke the school-record for career doubles (35) and Auger moved into the lead for all-time career strikeouts.

Collins, a Third Team NJCAA Pre-Season All-American, batted .531 (17-for-32) in eight games played, which included four straight multi-hit games to end the week. Collins went a combined 13-for-16 in the final four games of the week against Brown Mackie College and Otero J.C.

She broke the Lady Saintsí career record for doubles going 4-for-4 with four doubles in game one against Otero. She finished the doubleheader with a 3-for-3 performance with a RBI and two runs scored.

Collins is currently 37th in the NJCAA batting .489 and is tied for 24th in the country with 42 RBI.

Auger broke the SCCC record for career strikeouts in her first season as a Lady Saint, passing Becky Holland who recorded 220 strikeouts in 2005-2006. In four appearances last week, Auger recorded a 4-0 record, a 0.88 earned run average and 45 strikeouts in 24 innings pitched.

She began the week striking out 14 batters in a complete-game win on the road at Pratt Community College. Auger pitched her second complete-game no-hitter of the season in a 23-0 victory against Brown Mackie College. Against the Lady Lions, Auger recorded 11 strikeouts and issued two walks in the five-inning contest.

Auger finished the week pitching a five-inning complete-game victory against Otero where she broke the career strikeout record with 13 Ks in the 9-1 victory.

She currently leads the NJCAA in strikeouts with 233. Overall, Auger has posted a 17-6 record with a 1.36 ERA in 149.2 innings pitched. She leads the team with 22 straight complete games and eight shutouts in the circle.
