The Seward County Community College softball team swept Brown Mackie College 23-0 (five innings) and 17-0 (five innings) on Friday afternoon at Lady Saints Softball Field in a non-conference doubleheader. The Lady Saints tied a school record with 23 runs in game one, as Courtney Auger tossed her second no-hitter of the season with 11 strikeouts in the five-inning victory. Seward County finished the sweep out-hitting the Lady Lions 18-2, as seven SCCC players recorded a multi-hit game. Seward County has now won 11 of its last 12 games overall this season. Brown Mackie drops to 0-14 overall this season.

The Lady Saints scored six runs in the second, seven runs in the third and 10 runs in the fourth inning in game one. Sophomore first baseman Jennifer Collins went 3-for-5 with six RBI, Alicia Gonzales finished 3-for-5 with three RBI and Cara Russell went 2-for-4 with two RBI for SCCC.

Auger is now 15-6 on the season with a 1.43 earned run average. She has 208 strikeouts needing only 13 Ks to break the all-time Seward County career record. It was Augerís 20th consecutive game throwing a complete game, and it was her seventh shutout of the season.

Russell earned her 10th win of the season in game two allowing two base hits in her complete-game shutout. Russell notched seven strikeouts in the victory.

Leading Seward County at the plate was a host of players with multi-hits, including Gonzales (3-for-4, five RBI), Melissa St. Clair (2-for-3, three RBI), Collins (3-for-4, two RBI) and Jamie Gilbert (3-for-4, three runs, stolen base).

Seward County will host Otero Junior College (34-7) for a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday, April 6, at 12 p.m. at Lady Saints Softball Field in Liberal.
