The No. 9 nationally-ranked Barton County Community College Lady Cougars tennis team came into Liberal and defeated the No. 17 Seward County Community College Lady Saints in a dual on March 15, at the Blue Bonnet tennis courts in Liberal. Seward County posted both victories in No. 5 and No. 6 singles play, as the Lady Cougars took all three doubles matches and the top four singles match-ups. The Lady Saints drop to 15-19 overall in games played this season. Seward County will continue to face top contenders in its next match on Saturday, March 29, taking on No. 7 Cowley College in Arkansas City, Kan.

Sophomore Erica Herrera gave the Lady Saints their first victory of the day with a 6-4, 6-2 win against Jessica Klug in No. 5 singles competition. Herrera improves to 3-1 overall this season in singles competition.

Seward County freshman Alyssa Larson earned her third singles win of the season with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Alexis Crowther in No. 6 singles play.

Barton County dominated the No. 1 andNo. 2 singles matches, winning both match-ups 6-0, 6-0. In doubles play, Valerie Stevens and Larson fell 8-5 in No. 2 doubles, and Herrera and Sanela Dejanovic were defeated 8-6, in No. 3 doubles.
