They didnít do it the pretty way, but the Seward County Lady Saints got it done Wednesday night in Garden City. Seward let the Lady Busters hang around in game one, winning 25-18 and had a fight on their hands in game two, trailing late before coming back to beat winless Garden just 25-22. In game three the Lady Saints locked things in and rolled to a 25-11 win to sweep the match and win their 20th of the season.

Playing in one of the most hostile environments in the Jayhawk Conference with 2nd place in the conference standings on the line Monday night in Colby, the Seward County Lady Saints fell flat, losing to the Lady Trojans in three games 25-17, 30-28, 25-20.

Saturday in the Greenhouse had all of the action packed into it that a sports fan could want. The day started with a kidís clinic in which Seward County Volleyball players assisted some 50 youngsters in improving their skills and then watching the Lady Saints in action in a modified scrimmage followed by autographs. Then it was time for the Lady Saints annual dig pink match for breast cancer awareness against Cloud County and in front of a spiritual crowd, Seward took down the Lady T-Birds in three. The day finished with the Lady Saints 1st annual alumni game

Marcus Pollardís athletic journey was a unique one to say the least. The Lanett, Alabama native and Valley High School graduate ended up at Seward County Community College where he played basketball for Coach Dale Reed and the Saints for two seasons, averaging 14.9 points and 9.3 rebounds in a dominating sophomore season for the Green and White.

It wasnít exactly the marquee matchup that some of the Seward County Lady Saints recent dates had been. Monday nightís tilt with Northern Oklahoma-Enid pitted the 17-6 Lady Saints against the 5-14 Jets who had struggled against other Jayhawk Conference competition this season. The outcome however, would send shockwaves through the Midwest Juco community as the Lady Jets came from behind, down 2-0, to win the match 3-2 and send the Lady Saints back to Liberal with a sour taste in their mouths.
