From the lowest seeded team in the field, to the tournament championship, Seward County freshmen Ronzai Saurombe and Alejandro Gonzalez made history Saturday, becoming the first Saints tennis team in history to win a National Championship. The pair cruised to the title match on Saturday where they had no problem with their 3rd seeded foes from Fresno City College, winning 6-4, 6-2 to capture the 2013 ITA National Championship in Junior College Doubles.

The Seward County Saints and Lady Saints basketball teams will be hosting the 10th Annual Saints Bookstore Basketball Preview Night on Thursday, Oct. 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the Greenhouse on the campus of SCCC/ATS. Admission to the event is free, with all proceeds going to support the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Haskell, Stevens, and Seward Counties. Donations will be accepted at the door and at the concession stand throughout the night.

The Seward County Lady Saints might just have found their stride. After flirting with the .500 mark much of the first half of the season, Seward rolled off four straight wins this weekend, keeping the Ozfest Invitational Tournament Championship in the Greenhouse, and improving their overall record to its best in two seasons at 17-11.

A three day wait from the end of the ITA Regional Tournament in Oklahoma City to the much anticipated announcement of the two at large doubles teams invited to participate in the 2013 ITA National Tournament seemed like an eternity for four Seward County freshman. Tuesday afternoon their Head Coach Jerry Thor got the call and Tuesday night, upon returning from a recruiting trip, Thor gave the news to Paula Lopez, Paula Coyos, Alejandro Gonzalez, and Ronzai Saurombe that they were headed to Florida to compete for a National Championship.
