Seward County Community College/Area Technical School will offer a Concealed Carry class through Business & Industry from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, April 6 in SU214 E/W, 1801 N. Kansas in Liberal.
The cost is $100 per class and is the mandatory training that is required to carry a concealed handgun. Students must bring a Kansas driver’s license to class. Lunch is not included.

Tickets are now available for the Seward County Community College/Area Technical School musical production of the “Assassins” at 7:30 p.m., April 11-13.
“Assassins” is a musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and is based on the book by John Weidman. This murderous carnival game portrays men and women who attempt to assassinate the presidents of the United States, some successfully and some unsuccessfully. The musical reflects the music of each era.
The musical is recommended for adult audiences only because of the content of the musical. Tickets are $8 and $10 and may be purchased in advance by calling 620-417-1451 or emailing terri.barnes@sccc.edu. Tickets may also be picked up at the Shank Humanities Building, 1801 N. Kansas, Liberal. Seating may be limited the night of production.

Seward County Farm Bureau board president, Billie Proctor, presents a check for $500 to Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Foundation president, Duane Bozarth, during Farm Education Day.  The donation will be added to the Seward County Farm Bureau endowed scholarship fund for students participating in the SCCC/ATS agriculture programs. Liberal kindergarteners had the opportunity to attend Farm Ed Days at SCCC/ATS reently to learn abou farm equipment, farm animals and crops and soils. The event is co-sponsored each with Seward County Farm Bureau.

Prospective students who are interested in attending Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in the fall need to sign up to attend an All Saints Days.
Individuals can meet with SCCC/ATS staff, enroll in classes and meet future classmates.
All Saints Days are scheduled April 6, May 21, June 4, June 20, July 9, July 18, July 30 or Aug. 6.

The Kylix Art Club at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School is sponsoring its Children’s Art Day from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday, April 6 in the art room of the Shank Humanities Building for children in grades 1-6.
The cost is $15 and includes all supplies and drinks. Children are asked to bring a sack lunch.

Students in activities and athletics at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School will be conducting a phonathon to raise money for scholarships through the SCCC/ATS Foundation.
Students will be calling alumni and friends from 4:30-8:30 p.m., March 25-28, April 1-4 and April 8-11. During that time, you may call 620-417-2500 to leave a donation.

The Kansas Small Business Development Center at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School will present a three-hour workshop, providing information on starting a small business. The free workshop, “Steps to Startup,” will run from 6-9 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 in SW229 A/B on the second floor of the Student Activities Center, 1801 N. Kansas, Liberal.

The Swingin’ Saints Swing Band and the Liberal High School Jazzmen will perform at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 2 at the Seward County Community College/ Area Technical School Showcase Theater in the Shank Humanities Building.
The concert is free but seating is limited.

The Business and Industry Office at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School will offer a short seminar called Customer Service: The Heart of Success, from 9 a.m.-12 noon or 1:30-4:30 p.m., Tuesday, March 26 in the SCCC/ATS Student Union, SW229 C&D.
The cost is $49 per person and presenter by Jenni Reling will show participants how to meet the customer, make a connection and understand the basics and value of customer service. She will help participants examine how customer service is as much a “heart” activity as a service activity.

The next NACE Rectifier School at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School is March 19-21.
This state-of-the-art training devotes two and one-half days to the hands-on training, hosted in partnership by the Southwest Kansas NACE Chapter, the Gas Capital Rectifier School Committee and SCCC/ATS.

The Seward County Community College/Board of Trustees met Monday, March 4, to review the FY2012 fiscal audit, approve rates for housing, tuition and fees and hear a variety of reports.
The board of trustees approved a one-year performance agreement that will be presented to the Kansas Board of Regents. Each Regent institution is required to have a performance agreement approved by the Board of Regents. SCCC/ATS is in the third year of the current performance agreement and the new agreement is for 2013. The agreement addresses goals toward increasing on-line enrollment, career and technical education certification, success rates in developmental writing, STEM graduates, mathematic course success, and overall student graduation rates.

Personal and team history was made in the Greenhouse Saturday night as the Seward County Saints opened the 2013 Region VI Tournament against the Colby Trojans. The Saints won, to advance to the quarterfinal round of the tournament for the 6th straight season under Head Coach Bryan Zollinger and in the process, sophomore guard Kaheem Ransom joined the elitist and most prestigious club in program history, eclipsing the 1,000 point mark to become 1 of just 10 players in school history to do so.

The Singing Saints Concert Choir, directed by Dr. Magda Silva, recently performed at the Seward County Community College/Area Technical School Foundation Annual Board of Governors Meeting.  The Board of Governors meet once a year to elect trustees, hear reports of the Foundation and College activities, and conduct other business of the Foundation.
