Across the Midwest this fall, three former Seward County Lady Saints volleyball players were letting their play do the talking as they made their mark at four year universities. Sheina Fernandes, Courtney Geesing, and Daiane Souza were each All-Jayhawk West performers during their days in Liberal for Seward and after this season, it is quite obvious that their hardware will have more company over the next year after the trio propelled their respective teams to new heights during the 2012 volleyball season.

As the early signing date of 2012 hit Wednesday, a pair of Seward County sophomores strengthened the Lady Saints tradition by signing at Division I universities. Anete Kirsteine and Ricquia Jones, each inked on the dotted line on Wednesday in the All-American Room at Seward County. Kirsteine is headed to the Universtiy of Texas-El Paso while Jones will be on her way to Indiana State University at seasons end.

It couldnít have been a much better start to her sophomore season for Seward County point guard Ricquia Jones in the Pepsi Classic to kick off the 2012-2013 season this weekend and on Tuesday, the Lady Saints leader was honored for her performance with KJCCC Co-Player of the Week honors.

The 9th ranked Seward County Saints showed the Greenhouse faithful this weekend that they are going to be the most entertaining ticket in town for the next five months, lighting up Fort Carson and Godís Academy in a pair of Pepsi Classic wins to begin the 2012-2013 season 2-0. Friday night the Saints put together a balanced effort, with six players in double figures to easily take care of Fort Carson Army base 107-62 while on Saturday night they showed their lock down defensive abilities to force 44 Godís Academy turnovers to win 97-54.

The Seward County Lady Saints showed exactly why the Jayhawk West coaches picked them as the top team in the league this season on opening weekend in the Greenhouse as they blew out Oklahoma Baptist on Friday 120-59, just to back that up with another sizeable win 88-61 over Brown Mackie to start the season 2-0.
