Seward County Community College/Area Technical School will offer a Concealed Carry class through Business & Industry from 8 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Saturday, July 14 in SU214 E/W, 1801 N. Kansas in Liberal.
The cost is $100 per class and is the mandatory training that is required to carry a concealed handgun. Students must bring a Kansas driverís license to class. Lunch is not included.

The Seward County Community College/Board of Trustees heard reports about EduKan and Automotive Business Management at its regular meeting Monday.
Doralia Reynolds, learning manager for EduKan, the collegeís online consortium with Garden City, Dodge City, Barton County, Colby and Pratt community colleges, gave an overview of how EduKan is progressing. The enrollment overall is increasing, but primarily in microbiology, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, math and composition. In addition, SCCC/ATS has increased its individual enrollment in these online courses this past year.

When Canyon High School basketball star Candi White was being recruited by legendary coach Jim Littell of Seward County during the 1997-98 school year, little did either of them know just where the relationship would lead them to. After signing with the Lady Saints and playing for Littell for two seasons, White would later sign at Texas Tech where she was a standout for the Red Raiders in Lubbock.

Not only excelling on the field and courts this season, a total of 100 Seward County students-athletes passed an average of 16.9 hours with an overall GPA of 3.02 for the Spring 2012 semester. Fifty-four student-athletes made the Athletic Directorís Honor Roll with 9 receiving a perfect 4.0 GPA. To qualify, a student-athlete must have passed a minimum of 12 hours with a 3.0 (or higher) grade point average.

Students at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, Liberal, Kansas, still have an opportunity to take summer classes.
On-campus courses offered in July include Art Appreciation, Principles of Sociology, Human Growth & Development, Microcomputer Software Suites, Digital Photography/Computer Graphics, Pre-Composition II, English Composition I, English Composition II, American History II 1877-Present, Applied Nutrition for Health, Introduction to Philosophy, Reading Skills† and Public Speaking. These classes run July 9-Aug. 2.
In Satanta, students can take Intermediate Algebra; in Hugoton, Elementary Statistics; in Moscow, English Composition II; in Rolla, American History I; and in Sublette, Art Appreciation, Drawing I or Two-Dimensional Design. All classes are July 9-Aug. 2

Seward County Community College/Area Technical School has named its spring 2012 semester Presidentís Honor Roll, Deanís Honor Roll and Part-time Deanís Honor Roll.
Students who complete at least 15 credit hours in courses numbered 100 and above and maintain a grade point average of 4.0 shall be eligible for the Presidentís Honor Roll.

Tayler Sawyers, Emmalee Newport and Bethanie McIntire, all of Turpin, recently participated in the Allied Health Camp at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School in Liberal. Students learned about Surgical Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Respiratory Therapy, Nursing and Medical Assistant.

Tesk Nichols, Johnson, and Abby Roberts, Hugoton, who will graduate from the Cosmetology program at Seward County Community College/Area Technical School, created some personalized tiles that will be displayed on a wall outside the theater. Each year, graduates of the college will make a personalized tile that will be displayed with their class. This project will be the start of an outdoor art project for campus.

The SCCC/ATS Nursing program has just received official notification from the Kansas State Board of Nursing (KSBN) of the licensure results for graduates taking the exam for the first time between Jan 1 through December 31 of 2011 Nursing graduates.
For the seventh year in a row, the SCCC/ATS Practical Nursing program pass rate for first time candidates taking the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurse (NCLEX-PN) was 100 percent. The Kansas average pass rate was 93.98 percent and the national average pass rate was 84.83 percent. The SCCC/ATS Practical Nursing program had its first graduating class in 1979 and there have been 19 graduating classes with 100 percent pass rate on the NCLEX-PN exam: 1981, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1988, 1989, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1998, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011.
Of the 25 LPN programs in Kansas, SCCC/ATS was one of seven with 100 percent pass rates. However, SCCC/ATS is the only one with over four consecutive pass rates of 100 percent.
